Happy Dollars
(Editor's Note: Today's meeting was a very special Club Day with lots of attendees and a surprise program. Apologies for missed Happy Dollars, shortened comments, and very abbreviated program notes.)
Linda Pendergast saw Lisa Barall-Matt recently and was sorry to say that Lisa lost her brother recently. Linda is heading to Muncie Indiana for her granddaughter's graduation and then on to California to visit family.
Bob Cave distributed the Loaves & Fishes schedule for upcoming months. They need a couple more for May. He has asked other clubs to fill in when are can provide enough volunteers.
Greg DeManche was happy that his daughter had been recognized by UCONN School of Science and Engineering.
Peter Vignati said his wife, Suzanne, and mom were boosting the economy on a shopping spree.
Joanne Santiago congratulated Colleen on the success of Tastes of the Valley.
Sue and Bill Budde were heading off to the District Conference in Southbridge MA.
AG Dave Tedeschi said he had missed a few of our meetings due to health issues.
Tom West and his family were starting the observance of Eastern Orthodox Holy Week.
Arnie Goldman was thankful for all the cards and well wishes while recovering from recent surgery.
DGE Vin Marinaro was happy to be joining us and representing DG Christine Burns who's husband was having surgery today.
Josh Gillooly congratulations to the TOTV Committee for a great event. He was sorry that he had a previous commitment. Josh also commented that he saw Dale Bronson recently who hasn't been able to attend meetings due to health issues related to nerve problems in his face. (Dale zoomed into the meeting at one point)
Jolly Lux was very happy to have met with a student who is going to be working with GLO.
Robin Worley thanked the club for honoring her father. He loved Rotary.
President Luke Violette gave a Hats Off! for the TOTV crew.

Bill Barnes arose next to retire the old flag and recognize PDG Tom Voorhees for over 50 years of Rotary service and PERFECT ATTENDANCE! Bill drew our attention to the year 1973 when a number of significant events occurred. 1973 was the year that Bill Barnes joined Rotary in Bloomfield CT. 1973 was also the year that our Club was founded. 1973 was the year that Tom Voorhees joined Rotary in Morris NJ and started a 50-plus year run of perfect attendance. When Tom moved to CT, he continued his perfect attendance in our club plus many make-up meeting credits with the Kensington CT club and many other clubs during his term as our President 1985-86 and as District 7890 Governor 1999-2000. President Luke invited PDG Joanne Alfieri and Maryellen Voorhees to come to the podium to present Tom an inscribed flag case containing our retired club flag.
