Robin DiNicola - Her last meeting as Sgt-at-Arms and her son headed up to Middle School
Paul Mikkelson - Thanked Lisa Barall-Matt for a great President's Dinner, welcomed Tim LeGeyt, and talked about his amazing bike trip to Mallorca, Spain, where he enjoyed great food and weather, and THE hills.
Claire Cote - was relieved to be closing out the fiscal year and hoping to get a new Dial-a-Ride bus. She was happy to be a the meeting. Her new staff member is working out well. The LGBT Program for Seniors was a great success at the Senior Center.
Gary Roman - Congratulations to Salin for a successful year as President and wished good luck to Gary Miller, our incoming President.
Bob Cave - thanked Claire for helping out with the Seniors Job Bank.
Gary Miller - gave a check to the Foundation to celebrate his 45th wedding anniversary on Saturday and the arrival of his daughter, Betsy, and her family up visiting from Louisiana.
Joanne Santiago - was thankful for another successful Installation Dinner. She reminded everyone to bring in their Foundation donation checks made payable to R.I. Foundation. Donations can also be made via the RI Foundation website.
Kurt Lux - announced that Guiding Light Orphans was founded 4 years ago. He was grateful for all the support from the club.
Frank Wargo - was thankful to finally have another family member with whom he could share Rotary, his neice Heather Pantano.
Phil Worley - was happy that Hank Frey would be coming to the next Rotary Pub Night at the Crown & Hammer in Collinsville on July 7th.
Rollie Sterrett - was thankful for the Installation Dinner and his recognition as a Major Donor. He thanked Tom Voorhees for pushing him to do what's right.
Don Scott - was happy that Phase One of the Collinsville Streetscape was almost complete. He also put in a plug for upcoming events in Collinsville: Collinsville HOT!, Sam Collins Day, the Gallery of Trees, and Oktoberfest.
Jolly Lux - Happy Birthday to Guiding Light Orphans which has enhanced the lives of over 5000 people in her Ugandan home. She was very grateful for all the support.
Ben Dunning - has been really busy at work and reported that he would need surgery on his back to repair two broken rods. He was pleased to report that his son has been following in his footsteps at the family business.
Bill Barnes - saluted Salin for her time as President and being recycled back into the ministry as an interim pastor. He also chided Phil Worley for only coming to church on Easter Sunday and missing his last two sermons at the Canton Center Congregational Church where he has been filling in as pastor.
Salin Low - reminded everyone that the Seniors Luncheon in Canton would be held on Thursday, July 16th, at the Canton Senior Center. She passed around the sign-up sheet.
Capri Frank - was happy be at a meeting and be joined by her mother, Sandi so she could spend time with her.
Announcements
Paul Mikkelson reminded everyone that the next Community Service meeting would be on Friday, July 3rd, after the club meeting. The committee has quite a few requests to review from Canton. He encouraged members from Avon to promote ideas, since most of the requests of late had been for Canton activities.
Gary Miller announced that the initial meeting of the newly formed Youth Services Committee would follow the meeting.
Thor Cheyne said that the Golf Committee needed help with auction items. He urged members to reach out to their past auction donors.
Pub Night
The next Pub Night will be held Tuesday, July 7, from 4 to 7 at the Crown & Hammer in Collinsville. The August Pub Night will be on Wednesday, August 5 at Avon Old Farms Hotel. Moving forward, Pub Night will be held one month on Tuesday and the next month on Wednesday, and the day of the week will keep alternating thereafter. This scheduling protocol should make it so the same members aren't faced with the same scheduling conflicts month after month. As always, attendance at Pub Night will entitle members to a make-up in the Club's records.
