Steve Roberto announced the first TOTV meeting on Tuesday at 5PM at Dish 'n' Dat in the Shoppes of the Farmington Valley. Sabrina Waqar has agreed to be his co-chair this year.
Capri Frank was happy to be here with her friends. Her youngest son, who is away at college, was going to be home for the weekend.
Phil Worley was happy to have Sabrina and Scott as greeters for the month.
Larry Sullivan has happy to have wrapped up the Golf Tournament with $45,800 net profit. He also stated that Linda Pendergast and Nancy Nation are retiring from the many years of service to the tournament. Don Rossler will be taking over the organization of the kitchen from Linda. Larry said it will take 3 members to replace Nancy.
Kathleen Parr was very happy to be inducted as a member this morning. She and her husband just celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary this past week.
Tom Voorhees reported that his son in Florida was safe and still had a roof over his head.
Robin DiNicola said she will miss next weeks meeting due to Parents Weekend at Avon Old Farms School. One of her friends couldn't believe that Nancy was still involved in the golf tournament.
Sue Budde has happy to report that Bark & Brew was a huge success this past weekend. She figured they raised between $15-20,000. They had a huge crowd.
Don Bonner had talked with his daughter, Sara, on Sunday morning. She was planning a hike into Haiti. Don would have been happier if she were to stay safe in the Dominican Republic. She will be coming home on the 29th of this month.

Nancy Nation pointed out the Thank You letters from the students at the Wish School in Hartford were on each of the tables for everyone to read how much the kids loved their pencil boxes.

The service is at 11:00. Bill Barnes urged our members to arrive by 10:45 and sit together in the sanctuary.
10/21: The meeting will be held at Tower Ridge Country Club on Nod Road.
The meeting will be a Club Forum. He has asked all the committee chairs to report on their committee activities.
10/21: Canton Chamber of Commerce to hold: "Stars of the Town"
The Canton Chamber will hold its annual awards banquet, billed as "Stars of the Town" on Friday, October 21st at
"41 Bridge Street" in Collinsville.It will be " an evening celebration of exceptional business and community leaders"

11/3: Rotary Foundation Dinner
The Rotary Foundation Dinner will be held at Chez Josef in Agawam on November 3rd. The dinner always has great speakers. Joanne Santiago encourages our members to attend at club expense. Carpooling can be arranged for anyone wishing to share a ride.

Joanne Santiago requested nominations for nonmember Paul Harris Awards. Rotarians are reminded to make their voluntary Rotary Foundation pledge, traditionally done at the time of one's birthday, however, the earlier in the Rotary year the better. World Polio Day is October 24th. Happy Dollars will go to Polio Plus to be matched 2:1 by the Bill and Melissa Gates Foundation.

Alfred fully embraced the contemporary culture. He was born in Maine in 1842 and later moved to Ohio. Afred was very active in iron, manufacturing and railroad industries. His company produced the automatic coupler used to connect railroad cars. Prior to his invention, a man had to manually join the trains. The coupler greatly improved the safety of this procedure.
Theodate convinced her father to support her with a house in Farmington. The house still stands at 13 High Street. She and her father would later collaborate to build a country house designed to maximize the views and aesthetics for her father's height at 5' 11". The house was completed in 1905 and houses much of her father's art collection. The current staff of the museum work diligently to preserve the style of a 1900s home.
