March of Dimes

(Natalee Martin)

Natalee Martin of March of Dimes joined us today. They have changed their focus in recent years. Their original cause was raising money to fund polio research. They have now taken on helping premature babies. Current statistics show that 1 on 9 babies is born prematurely. They are looking to find why labor starts early. There is a huge cost to treat a baby in the NICU. They have funds to help moms with gasoline and lodging costs.

They are providing education to moms around allowing themselves to go the full term of 39 weeks when possible rather than schedule caeserean sections.

Natalee also mentioned that there is an upcoming Brunch for Babies event. For opportunities to help with this event or to donate to their efforts and obtain more information, go to their website at www.marchforbabies.org

Upcoming Pub Nights:

June 3, 2015

You never know who might show up...

Rotary Pub Night is an informal gathering of Rotarians providing opportunities to socialize and get to know each other better. Friends, acquaintances, spouses, partners, significant others, co-workers, new-member-prospects, etc. are all invited to participate.

Members of other Rotary Clubs are also cordially invited to attend. Attendance will qualify as a "Makeup" for a missed Friday morning meeting of the Rotary Club of Avon-Canton! Inform the Sgt. at Arms within two weeks for Makeup credit.

This week's Early Riser Editor - Kevin Colvin who apologizes for the late publish date. The new software tripped him up a bit.
