Joanne Santiago was happy to enjoy a very nice District Luncheon.
 
Linda Pendergast recognized veterans and all who served. She is thrilled to announce her granddaughter is engaged to be married!
 
Jolly Lux was happy to report that her first fundraiser since the pandemic made close to $10,000 after the three-year fundraising event hiatus. Uganda recently changed the curriculum from theory to more practical lessons, and GLO is a part of it. The farm has 4,000 watermelon seedlings planted and is also working on irrigation.
 
Don Bonner, in honor of Veterans Day, was happy to see taps played in Washington DC at the Doughboy Memorial honoring his wife’s grandfather, James Cox, who was wounded in France in 1917.
 
Sue Budde was looking forward to scrapbooking for the weekend, and she is going on a road trip with Bill to Tennessee to visit his aunt. 
 
Announcements
 
Salin Low has the sign up for ringing the Salvation Army Bell at one door on Nov. 24 & December 9. Unfortunately, there are no wreaths this year.
 
Miller Farms is collecting canned goods, nonperishables or $10-15 grab bags for Avon Food Bank.
 
There is no meeting Friday after Thanksgiving (11/24)
 
Cherie Walton has a sign-up going to be a secret Santa for FAVARH residents. The holiday event is happening on Wednesday, December 13.

November 17, 2023 - VFW Veteran's Breakfast during the meeting; Past Presidents' meeting following the regular meeting to discuss board and officer slate for 23-24 Rotary year.
 
November 24 & December 9 - Ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. Salin Low will have a sign-up sheet at the meeting.
 
December 12, 2023 - 5:00 p.m. - Club Christmas dinner hosted by Cal Miller-Stevens.
 
December 13, 2023 - FAVARH Christmas Party at Canton HS

Saving First Church Steeple
 
President Luke Violette introduced fellow Avon-Canton Rotarian Bob Cave. Bob worked to help restore the iconic West Hartford First Church Steeple starting in February 2023 with construction beginning in May and ending in September. They completed the project on time and in budget for $400,000.
