At our Rotary meeting on March 13th, President Sue Budde and Membership Chair Peter Vignati initiated Michael Clark into the Rotary of Avon Canton as an Honorary Member. However, Michael is no stranger to Rotary. Michael is the son of Pat and Ann Clark, dear and treasured Rotarians.

Michael was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in November 1963 while his Dad, Pat, was attending Xavier University and working for Proctor and Gamble.

The Clark family moved back to Connecticut in the summer of 1967 and bought their family home in Avon.  The youngest Clark son was born in October of that year in Hartford and the family was complete. Michael attended Avon Public Schools - Roaring Brook Elementary, Avon Middle School and Avon High School, graduating in 1981.

In 1985, Michael graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and in 1987, he graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Master of Science Degree in Chemistry. Michael went on to work for Polaroid Corporation in their Chemical Research Department from 1988-1998 and also the Boy Scouts of America.

In January of 2006 Michael had brain surgery at University of Massachusetts medical center, to stabilize a seizure disorder.

Upon returning to Avon in 2008, Michael has been a committed member of our community, supporting Rotary events and participating in many service projects, most especially with the garden club of Avon.

It is a great joy to officially welcome for membership, an old friend of Rotary—Michael Clark.
